1. Download your copy
A single zip. Everything is inside it — there is nothing else to install and no account to make.

2. Check you have Node 18 or newer
The one thing Sorted needs from your computer. Open Terminal (Mac), or PowerShell (Windows), and paste this:
A number like v20.11.0 and you’re set. "Command not
found" means you need Node — it’s free, takes two minutes, and comes from
nodejs.org. Pick the version labelled LTS.
3. Give it a name
It answers to Robin out of the box. Call it whatever you like — you’re going to be talking to it every day, so it may as well be a name you’d actually use. You can change it again whenever you want.
Put this line in agent.config.json, or just say

4. Pick how it talks to you
This changes the wording only. It never changes what it does, what it will refuse, or what it tells you — a brisk agent and a warm one give you exactly the same facts.
5. Set it up — guided, step by step
The Setup Assistant asks what you’ve got (computer,
messenger, AI) and walks your exact path one step at a time, with fixes when
anything goes wrong. The last step runs node agent.js, whose
built-in wizard writes your settings for you. About 30 minutes.
6. Say something to it
Start it with node agent.js, then message it on
whichever channel you picked. Good first things to try:
- What’s my day look like?
- Remind me to call the dentist on Thursday morning
- Keep anything about Mum private
- What have you learned about me?
If nothing comes back, run node agent.js --doctor.
It checks every connection in turn and tells you plainly which one is wrong.
Three things worth knowing on day one
It’s a bit blank at first, and that’s correct. The part of Sorted that learns your habits sits on your machine and starts with nothing in it. It won’t act on a guess until it has seen roughly twenty-five examples and is confident enough to be right — so expect it to ask before it assumes for the first week or two. That caution is deliberate. An assistant that guesses early is worse than one that waits.
Ask it what have you learned at any point and it will show you exactly what it thinks it knows, and how sure it is. Nothing is hidden from you.
Nothing leaves your machine unless you connect it somewhere. There is no account, no server of ours, and no analytics anywhere in this product — including on the page you’re reading now. Your notes, your calendar and what it has learned about you sit in files you can open, read and delete yourself.
The exception, stated plainly: if you point it at an AI provider, the messages you send it go to that provider under their terms. Choose Ollama in the config and even that stays on your own hardware.
Voice works nearly everywhere, and there is one place it doesn’t. Hold the microphone and talk in any normal browser. Apple blocks microphone access inside installed web apps on iPhone and iPad — that’s their restriction, not a bug we can fix, so the app detects it and tells you rather than leaving you holding a dead button. Typing does everything voice does.
